Hosted by the People’s Government Guangdong Province and the Government of British Columbia Province, the China(Guangdong)-Canada(British Columbia) Economic and Trade Cooperation Conference was held on May 9th at the Vancouver Convention Centre. Organizers of the conference are the Guangzhou Municipality, the Department of Commerce of Guangdong Province, and the Ministry of International Trade. Over 100 delegates of senior government and business representatives from Guangdong attended to encourage socio-cultural and economic ties between China and Canada.
The agenda included an opening ceremony, speeches by Premier of BC Hon. Christy Clark, , Communist Party Secretary of Guangdong Province Mr. Chunhua Hu, Vice Mayor of Guangzhou Mr. Chaolin Cai, , and BC Minister of International Trade Ms. Teresa Wat among others. A pre-conference VIP meeting and welcome dinner was also held on May 8, hosted by the Government of BC. Over 200 government delegates and business leaders from China and Canada, including the president of CCCIC attended the meeting.
CCCIC President, William Li, signed a strategic partnership agreement with delegate from Guangdong, China to establish the Guangzhou China Canada Innovation Investment Fund. The Fund will combine high-quality resources of both parties, based on the background of vigorous promotion of the restructuring and development of traditional industries in China. In addition, the Fund will introduce the world’s leading clean technologies, health care, new materials technology and foster the upstream and downstream industries chain.
